Hi. Haven’t been out yet, is water still to cold for pike ? Been a different spring this year, also I see water level is really low around Waubashene/ Severn area. Thanks

Agreed, never to cold for pike. My best pike fishing is early spring or late fall. Also a much better release for the fish.

How do you find the lower water level. Does it affect the patterns ? Thanks

Does anyone know how to determine how low the water level is from normal levels in the Severn Sound, Georgian Bay area? Just curious.
I'm nervous as I just picked up my reconditioned prop from City Prop in Mississauga.
Maybe I should have picked up a spare one too...

Water levels do affect where the Pike are. I find they are in about the same depth post spawn with the same structure. This means if the water drops or rises drastically you need to find other spots that are now the right depth and right structure.

The depths are easy to find but the structures may be difficult as the past seasons structure is now too shallow and new structures haven't matured so I think early Spring they would be a lot more scattered until structures mature.

I will be at my trailer in Waubaushene probably tomorrow and will check water level and post here.

Could be true but I find it’s not that hard to find the structure even with fluctuating water levels. From year to year I have seen the water level up or down 3/4’. Each year based on high or low water I need to travel to different areas for the depth I like but once I find it I find the structure by searching that depth. I have yet to not find the structure I am looking for. Yes some spots I look don’t have it but I keep looking and do eventually find it.
