Got out for another try at the splake today. I tried to get out with Rook yesterday but cottage chores got in the way.
I fished for a few hours in the afternoon and shortly after I started I hooked a good fish on a J-9 rapala trolled behind the canoe. I had him on for a minute but he came unbuttoned. I got a good look at it and he was not a fish you want to lose. I trolled and casted for three hours and finally picked up a fish on a small kwikfish in buggy colours. Great fight and I didn’t screw up the netting . Fished for another half hour before I ran out of time. Here’s a couple pics

Another nice one Bill. What size was the Kwikfish you were running? I trolled one when we were out on Thursday but I found it to be slightly too much resistance for my ML action rod. Great action though, I’m sure it would work for them. I was using the firetiger pattern.

This is a smaller bait maybe an inch and a half. It’s kind of perchish colour. Moss green with some yellow and red. I’ve had it for over 40 years but I seldom use it. I like spoons the best but you have to be willing to change. I couldn’t buy one on a spoon yesterday.
