It was a cold and windy half day outing on the canoe despite the forecast calling for relatively calm conditions. Water temperature was 48F-49F and rose to 50F by early afternoon. We aimed to start at the top of a break in 30' but ended up being pushed by the wind over to the middle of it closer to 45'.
First fish marked was suspended at 27' over 48':

We connected on the next fish marked, a small lake trout at around 35', released. Another suspended fish came by that my friend landed, an average sized whitefish:

The wind began to pick up and the combination of the increasing gusts and wave height proved to be too much for us to stay vertical over our lines. We headed to a slightly more sheltered bay with a smaller 50' basin. I quickly landed two slot lake trout near bottom, both on the high hook:

We tried one more location on the way back to the launch where I had this close call with a lake trout:

Ended the day with 4 lake trout (all released) and 1 whitefish. It was good to be out but we were happy to have gotten off the water by the end after constant winds and emerging white caps.
