Took a break from getting the jungle back to normal. Still a few busted trees way in the back, but nobody goes back there but me looking for frogs. Watched the Leafs lose, then we headed out on the boat.

Fishing was great, there was a few dozen small walleye from 9 to 14 inches. The moon was almost full still, with a few clouds passing over. A bit of SE wind, under 10kph.

The later it got, the bigger the walleye were. Very aggressive fish, hitting the crankbaits and the Jokers on a pink jig under the slip bobber. No monsters last night with none over 20 inches. From about 1am until sunrise, almost every walleye caught was from 16 to 20 inches. My friend kept three and I kept two. This season I will just be keeping one or two at a time. Hopefully there will be more days/nights on the water this year. No need to be greedy and keep too many. In total 19 or 20 walleye in the slot. Didn't measure them, didn't have to, they all looked the same pretty much. I did keep one that my jig tore up it's gills. Normally the smaller walleye 16.6 inches would have been released. The bigger walleye was 19.6 inches. They both look the same size in this picture because of the collage box.

Here is the original picture. Put this up to compare the size difference. The plan this season is to catch and keep 1or 2 around 19.5 inches. This is instead of keeping 4 smaller walleye. This way I only kill 1 or 2 walleye as opposed to 4. Twice as many slot fish released means more fish for years to come. And more fish to catch on each adventure. Two 19.5 inch walleye weigh more than four 16.5 inch walleye, so why keep four.....makes no sense to me.

You are a true environmentalist at heart CM. I applaud your effort to improve all future Walleye catches. There is a good lesson here.
Cheers,
Thank you Fozzy. Have always tried to be good to Mother Nature, but there is always room to improve. All those terrible fishing videos watched over the winter affected me in a negative way. I found a few of my posts were very angry this year and that's not good. You can only do what you can do. Everybody should try their best and maybe a bit more, to make up for the anglers that don't. Good luck out there.

I still don’t know you manage to stay up all night, but good on ya.
LOL. I worked nights for a long time in my old job, guess you just get used to it. And fishing is not work, even though it's hard sometimes. Stay safe.

Jamie you are awesome. Nice fish and a nice report......pooey on the stupid Leafs. Love your conservational ways.
Arnie
Thanks Arnie. I have not given up on the Leafs. And yes they were a bit stupid last night, but tomorrow is a new day. They won the cup when I was 3.4 years old in 1967. They will win again.....This year, probably not. I love the team and I hope they don't break it up. Nylander is my favourite player, wish all the players had his attitude. The Leafs kryptonite is the media and the entitled fans. Let's see an average person go out and push themselves like athletes of all sports do. If you don't play ............ you have nothing to say. Go Leafs Go!!!

Awesome night out buddy! Stupid busy with work right now. More of a hardwater than softwater guy but hoping to get out on a combo spring bear and walleye trip before the 15th of June. If the stars really align will drag my Zodiac into Abitibi and camp on the beach and hunt bear and walleye/pike/burbot fish in my down time.

Well done Jamie.Good on you for the conservation efforts. I wish ministry would allow us to keep two overs on the Walleye in my zone.Unfortunately people have to keep 16 and under which to me is stupid. They are babies at this size.Imop
