So you read lots of ice fishing reports about Nip and how they caught dozens of walleye over a weekend and only had a few keepers because of the very tight slot limit of 40 to 45 cms !!! Was on the lake yesterday and I now know all about that. Got on the lake in the late morning and there was just a gentle breeze and then it died off to some very rare mirror type conditions for Nip !! We bottom bounced worm harnesses exclusively and relatively close to shore. We fished depths between 7 and 15 feet. We must have caught at least 20 fish below the slot limit before we finally boated a keeper. Very frustrating to say the least. But we kept at it because it was such a stellar day on the lake. Later in the afternoon the breeze started to pick up and so did the fishing. They turned on and by the time we got blown off the lake we had boated about 50 fish. We did manage to catch and keep our 4 in the slot.
