Pike Fishing in The Kayak, Waubaushene

Well last week was the inaugural run for the tinny but this week I brought the kayak up to give it a run.

Target was pike, mainly three pounders the ones I love to eat. Used nothing but rainbow multi colour spinner baits and had lots of fun catching meals.

Cooked them up fresh as can be on the griddle all but one of the 4 mornings, I was there.

I got in two days of pike fishing....the other two were just too windy to have fun. The two days I got in the bay was mirror smooth with just a ripple....Temps were perfect and the pike were voracious.

I tossed a couple of bigger ones but kept the 3 pounders and ate well, as I went. I also shared some fillets with fellow campers that do not have the opportunity to catch their own.

Very nice Arnie. Bet a pike fillet would taste great cooked up in that bacon fat. I do that a couple times a season. A fish breakfast of bacon , eggs and a crappie after fishing all night. Just ate a few hours ago, those pictures are making me hungry again. Sorry, thought you were done loading pictures. Looks great out there, on the water.

Pic 9 Another shot of the bay and waiting for the first hit of the morning.....lmao I could not believe how long it took to get a hit....must be losing the sensitivity in old age....reeled in to check and had a small piece of weed on the hook. After I removed it boom almost right away a hit.

Pic 14 I had a big hit and he took me into the weeds....smart old fellow did the shake and gone....thought he broke the line but snapped the wire on the spinner bait and made his exit with the hook.
