Got back Saturday night from a week fishing Lake Nipigon again. We stayed at the same place, "Onaman River Resort". The water was still cold. There was some skim ice on Monday morning heading out and still some ice piles on shore in places. The Specks were just starting to come in shallow and were found on shoals coming out of deeper water. Surface temps were from 42 to 50 depending on the location and onshore wind. Best lure was a 2/5 oz Little Cleo spoon in silver and blue, casting shoreline and shoals. Most of the pike were incidental to the Specks and caught on spoons with no leaders. The biggest pike was 42", the biggest Speck was 24.5". My son Cole caught that one, and the big pike. Was a great week, winds were mostly light so we could do some long runs from camp to get to the spots we wanted to fish.

35 Specks for the week and lost count of the Pike. A few incidental whitefish casting and some walleye in the river for a fry one night.

Nipigon is a bucket-list destination for me- those brook trout are beautiful specimens. Rarely grow to that size in Southern Ontario. Great photos!
