Took a road trip to central Ontario for a few days and settled on a lake with a healthy population of lakers. After a few months of not wetting a line, I was itching to get back on the water. We went 6 for 8 on the lakers. First few hours on the lake we trolled and did not get a hit. Switched to jigging a white tube and we connected with fish right away…. We also tried a couple of times for brookies on nearby lakes but got skunked. The only thing biting were the bugs.

Nicest colours on a laker that I have ever caught. The flesh was more pale than the others

Beautiful lake trout with some very colourful fins for this time of year. An owner of a bait shop in Temagami once told me the more orange the fins, the more orange the flesh will be. I don’t believe that is accurate at least from my experience. Genetic variation and the fall spawn are the main factors.
