Last Thursday, Mrs sdcaller and I drove up to Hepworth on the Bruce Peninsula for some music at the newly rebuilt Legion. The old Legion was totally destroyed by fire at the end of Covid.
We played tourist from Owen Sound and took the shore road all the way from OS to Wiarton.
I was surprisd that no vehicles & trailers in the launch area in OS and no sign of any boats on Owen Sound Bay or Colpoys Bay?
I thought somebody would have been out.
I'm hopeful of getting out of Meaford in the near future as the boat is all set to go. The last 2 years have been frustrating with tow vehicle and boat motor issues. I would like to think this year will be better.
Anyone have any insight on the current Georgian Bay fishery?

Hi Ralph...long time no...dont give up on the bay just yet, It has been a different year seems everything in the fish department is behind , water temps have stayed very low as well as water depths, any way a different year...But...
Lakers are plentiful and cooperative , some of these lads are hitting 20 lbs plus, off just about any where , Os, Meaford <Collingwood ,large flashy spoons this year some hitting out of depth range and a faster troll...Salmon...where are they ? I,ll tell you
Last two trips on the bay in my new boat (to me0 have certainly been exciting, last week trolling in 10 fow for walleye with a silver black rap , hard strike , fought this lad for seemed forever , jumps, runs at boat, finally at net..beautiful bow about 8 lbs..home for the smoker..
Following week..Good friend grampa(board member) joined me in the new "Minnow"..out early troll raps , hit right off , ...channel cat...headed to my 10 fow spot from last ..rod in holder..wham..this was an epic battle didnt know what we had but it sure was strong, just would,nt quit long drag peeling runs. seemed forever but im sure over 10 min ,glad i had my large net..turhed out to be an 11lb bright silver salmon!!!!u tell me salmon in 10 fow wit temps at 58..told u a different year..

I hear Huron (not sure what port) is having a banner year for salmon especially now. Maybe guys are chasing the fish rather than staying at one location and hoping for the best.

I troll the South of Parry Sound area and last year we didn’t get a single salmon or bow. This year for three outings the same result. I’m afraid this is the result of changing MNR stocking strategy from salmon/rainbow to lakers. Also, as discussed here previously, the fishladder in Thornbury was intentionally closed to not allow any bow to reproduce. Don’t know if it is the same now. Lakers are plentiful in some areas. Not sure what those MNR guys are thinking about but certainly not about anglers.
