Well I was debating about going out today, yesterday. Decided against it as the forecast winds were right on my limit. Then at 9 last night I decide why not try it. Got to the ramp at 7am, no one ahead of me at that moment. Get out to open water waves a good 3 ft. The wind was out of the east so nothing to stop if. Headed pretty much straight out South but a little east figuring that when I come back in it might be behind me a bit. Lines wet at 730 using spoons. Trolled for over and hour going south nothing. So I switched to worm harness on both rods. 1st fish 5 minutes later. By now the waves are 4ft with some at 6. I'm trolling quartering with the waves so it hard to even stand up in boat. I get 3 in 30minutes turn to go back over the track get 1 more, turn back and get 2 more, so got my limit by 10. Good thing as I was going to start trolling back and pack up at 1030, I'd had enough rocking and rolling even had water come over the bow a couple times. I would have thrown the 26" back but was the only one that came from behind harness and took all three hooks way down inside her. Smallest 15" other 4 18 to 20"

Crazy waves, still good fishing. I have had friends in the central basin today. It was choppy early but nothing like you describe. They called me at noon and it was calm.

20ft jon boat 8ft wide at top, 6ft at bottom. 29" sides, so not a great boat for open water.
