Meaford Report Thursday-August 21, Some days a lot Better Than Others

MY Buddy Phil and I decided at the last minute to fish Meaford today as light winds were forecast.

Should have stayed home!

Day did not start well. Carrying things out to the SUV to get ready to go, I tripped (at 83 years of age) and fell heavily on my left hip and knee. Lay there for a moment in a lot of pain, determined nothing broken--all soft tissue bruising and carried on.

Driving to Meaford, took a stone on the windshield--nice stone chip.

Fished for 4 hours, marked very little and never moved a rod.

By the time I came home, I have a hip that is the colour of ashphalt and a swollen and bruised knee.

Hey could have been worse.

I have to go to a friends funeral tomorrow.

The windshield can be fixed. I seriously suggest getting yourself checked out at the doctor. My dad fell a few years ago and cracked his hip and did not know it, until later. Never hurts to get an x-ray.

I agree with crappeeman Ralph never hurts to get Xrays. Like you said you are 83 and things don't heel like they used too. Was the water calm, it was windy here today

Ralph, so glad to read you got out despite all the issues. The windshield is a pain but it is a quick fix at the shop, your body, wow, that's a different story. Sounds like a nasty fall. Please get that checked at 83 a fall is no joke. Sorry to read about Barry as well, a great loss to your music enjoyment. I hope all is well with Sandy and wishing you a quick recovery. Let's talk at some point I've been busy with the grandkids would be great to have adult conversation for a change.

As others have said stone chips can be fixed, but still a pain in the A!

Rough day, but you got out..

Hopefully everything is ok and you can get out again when the salmon move inshore. I think they will be entering rivers soon, cooler nights and some rain recently. It's been very dry here all summer..

Appreciate the concern and suggestions to go for X-rays.

Right now, my hip and Knee are not pretty to look at, but all discomfort points at just bruising.

The thought of going to the Emerg and spending 6 or 8 hours or more there, only to be told go home, take Tylenol, use ice and get rest just doesn't appeal. I'm doing those things already and I'm getting about just fine.

I'll see how it goes over the next few days and if I think I have an issue, I will go for x-rays.

With the day you had the other day, with your luck, sincerely hope you had don't waste money on lottery tickets on the way home. Lady luck was MIA.

Glad you are OK. I hope a trip to Emerg ISN'T in your future, although a check up is very good idea. Like it was mentioned earlier, issues from falling is the serious stuff for older folks.
Better luck next time, which shouldn't be hard to do.
