Went down to the lake last night at 7pm. North west wind around 15 kph and died off as the night went on. Tons of rock bass, crappie and walleye, with a couple large mouth bass mixed in. Beautiful night with no mosquitoes, but lots of other bugs flying around. Most of the fish were caught on a slip bobber, pink jighead and Joker. Fished about 18 inches under the surface in 6 to 10 feet of water. Didn't throw the crankbaits much when the wind died down. Fish were very aggressive with a few walleye and crappie attempting to leap out of the water. Caught almost 20 walleye 10 to 15 inches. Over 20 big rock bass and about the same in smaller 8 to 10 inch crappie.

Let everything go except these two bigger crappie and one big bass. Quit around 5am because I got tired. Must be out of fishing shape, with not getting out much this summer. Good luck to everyone, in the weeks to come. Bring on the fall weather and the fish. Stay safe everybody.

You had a fun night! Glad the wind cooperated for you. We were camping up in parry sound but called it short because of the wind and crappy weather. Hopefully you can get out some more soon.

Congrats on your nice, fresh fish dinner Crappeeeman. Great post as usual. Somehow I just can't see to get my mojo going for true (over) night fishing, although it definitely paid of with a selection of fish caught.

sounds like an action packed night
Yes thank you sabmgb, it was a busy night. So nice to have the cooler temperatures here, with more on the way. Still waiting for that 2nd blast of east wind to bring on the fall weather. The fishing always gets better after we have 2 separate multi day east winds before mid September. We had one already, but the next one is not on the radar yet.

Thanks Jay. Too bad about the weather not helping you. I hope it did not ruin your whole trip. Plenty of time for you to get out and try again.

Those rock bass desperately want to be crappie! Nice fish. Peaceful night fishing is underrated.
Thank you mykola. I think you are right, the big rock bass were fighting like crappie, quite a few times thought it was another crappie until my headlamp turned on after netting the fish. Should have measured a few. It was peaceful, nobody out on the lake but myself.

Beauty night CM and your pics are getting better an better!
Thanks Smitty, I am sure there will be more bad photos very soon when it gets colder. LOL. Keeping the total picture numbers lower this year. Do not want to be like those bad guys on the videos I watched over the winter. It really made me sad to see that. I can always do better at getting fish back to where they belong much faster. After all, releasing the fish is the most important part of fishing. Most of my pictures are the fish kept, with a few exceptions if the fish is okay with me taking it's picture really quick.

Other than some stronger wind Saturday afternoon, the next 5 days will be great fishing. Good luck and stay safe. If you can't use live bait, make sure your bait looks alive.
