My son and I are coming up the end of next week for our Muskie trip . We will fish Pigeon , Sturgeon and maybe Balsam during the week . There hasn't been many reports on the Muskie fishing . I don't need spots to fish I know the lakes pretty well . Just wondering about water temps , how the weeds are still doing and if casting is doing better then trolling . You can send me a PM if you don't want to post on the board . Several of my Canadian friends have sent me some reports mostly about Sturgeon lake and Buckhorn . I'm 79 this year not sure how many more trips I'll be able to make . Casting those big lures is starting to wear me out LOL. Thanks for the help .

Three days ago the average water temperature was 65 degrees. Your friends are probably catching muskie on Sturgeon the same as my friends are lately. Your favourite spots should produce some fish as my friends are doing well out there. The weeds are still hanging on, the same as summer is still trying to hang on. They have had good luck trolling north and south, parallel very close to the edge of the weed line. Putting 10 to 12 feet of water directly under the boat. Maybe someone can update you better, before you take off for your trip. Good luck next week. I am usually up there picking spots for my friends to fish but have not been there in 10 days. They said the fishing has not changed yet, and is still good.

Was on Pigeon lake casting for a few days Thursday was east wind very difficult even to move a Musky. Friday was West wind and the bite was much better. Spoke to some other fishermen and they picked up a few trolling over the weeds. Water was 66-67. My biggest 46 was caught on a 700 Joe Bucher tinsel perch colour. Good luck.
