Three of us setup on a reef this morning. 6-7” good ice. Minimal snow and slush. ATV an Snowmobile running the lake with ease. -22 this morning, but no wind, very comfortable. No huts required today. Marked less fish today, but the lakers were biting. We managed about a dozen lake trout between us bite started around 10am. Lost some whitefish, they were around but less of them (I’ve been eating too many!). I manage one nice keeper lake trout over the release slot, 22.5” (forgot my derby card). My friend Stefan got 2 keepers. 21.75 and 22”. We each got some lake trout in the slot released. Went home at noon. Great morning, great weather, great fish, great company. Meegs jig on bottom was the ticket.

Sounds like a great laker day. I'm not quite ready to fish yet but soon..some gear repairs/modifications and also waiting for a little bit more ice where I want to fish. Too bad about the derby card but I am sure you will catch more.

Great report. That's my kind of fishing. Okay, that's the kind of fishing I dream of: ideal conditions, aggressive and productive bite, and done by noon.
