Just read this article. I have to check my license issued date, I think i'm in the 90's so some time left for me.

Here you go:

I found out 4 years ago that PCL expired after 10 year, I thought it was a life thing then. I got a notice that I had to renew mine since boat was 10 years old.

Typical Government efficiency. System not up to date.

I go to the site to check on my registration number and I'm still told "no expiry date".

I agree pencil pushers looking for ways to squeeze more juice out of the people.

Boat owners must have money, squeeze em.
Surprised they haven't included "CENSORED" for a renewal fee as well.

I guess with the increased accidents and negligent boaters, they want to make sure paperwork is in order for policing, fines and such.

I haven't checked my reg papers, but will put it on the to do list. Just wondering if they were going to send a letter or something to notify us longtime registered boaters, cuz I believe I am dated around 1993 and they don't have an email from back then.

Cheers!

METAL. Stop it you are going to give the government more ideas. You see where there is a big problem with abandoned boats on the west coast and this is supposed to help with this type of thing. I really don't see how or why it needs to change. If there an abandoned boat use the numbers that are on it, trace back to owner, if he sold the boat have a receipt that you sold it to whoever and let them go after that person, just make sure you keep a record of sale, but I guess they'd have a hard time proving it wasn't a fake Id.

Also when I had to renew my PCL, the government mailed me the notice to renew. I had to email the contact guy back as I was confused as to what the PCL was as I was confusing it with the POC, I thought they were both forever things.

So just got off the phone with them. Nice lady think her name was "Janice" and asked her that question.
Paper says April 11 2000 so when do I need a new one?
Answer Dec 2029
Current number when checked online says not found how are they going to notify me for the renewal?
Answer: Some of the older information hasn't been updated yet so if you want to make it easier just go online now and update your information.

So the long and short of it. Not going to make it easier for them. You want my money going to have to work for it. Find me if you can. Have the paper with no expiry date.

Just looked at my License and I'm good to DEc. 31, 2030.

If I'm still around then ( I would be 88), I probably won't have the boat

mine says "NO EXPIRY"...

So does mine, but under the new regs, they all have various expiry dates.
