I'd imagine that the conditions charged some since it was -36 in Dorset yesterday morning?

Too much snow, the cold doesn’t penetrate much

On Friday night I drilled a hole for water supply and covered it with about a foot of snow when I was finished. 24 hours later after a minus 37 night I kicked the snow aside and scooped water out of the hole with no ice on it at all.
Snow is a great insulator!

There’s only one Muskoka, it’s not plural unless you’re in a business meeting with the suits and want to sound special

Also, just 1/2” of snow here today - it was wed overnight that really hit, 16”….
Then Friday another 12”.

Calmed down on the snowfall this weekend

Looks like Muskoka got hit last week the city got hammered yesterday with about 18 inches a neighbor told me roughly 1 inch in Bracebridge yesterday. Not good for the lakes just going to insulate and not make ice .

No one can be be as special as you Drew! Im glad we know its called "The Municipality of Muskoka Lakes" but the Muskokas is a better acronym than TMOML even for guys in camo suits. LMAO (DO I have to spell that out too)

We were way too shallow -- only 18' -- and not a mark. We called it quits after about 30-40 minutes.

Yeah, I don't usually fish that shallow but my first year out, I went looking to see if I can find some panfish in 9-10ft of water over some weeds and within 2 minutes of dropping down, I caught my first WF for that lake with a Simcoe Bug (been back there again a few times on my way to other spots and not a single mark....go figure...but will always give it a shot each year just out of curiosity). There are very large pike in the lake too but I haven't tried targeting them on ice or during the soft water season either.
