Went to a buddy's Cottage in the Minden area this weekend for a bit of fishing.. arrived early Friday morning planned on fishing for 2 days and leaving early Sunday morning to beat the storm.. oh my God it was cool.. forecast was-33 which is unbelievably cold but Friday overnight into Saturday ended up getting to -41° c.. early in the morning at Sunrise it was still minus 40 degrees Celsius but without any wind and sun shining on us it was completely bearable in fact quite nice every once in awhile getting up to move around in the fresh air.. with the cold front we didn't think we should have to high expectations but the screen was on fire completely for 2 days and I went four for five with Lakers and one for two walleye.. kept a little guy so the father-in-law could have a small lunch. Both of our cars went into limp mode when we tried to start them in the morning

Sounds like a great weekend! It was cold but if you have the right gear it works out.
On the other hand vehicles do not like this weather.

Great way to spend the weekend

Guy I know had a brand new Chevy 2500 and it went into limp mode on the first cold morning of winter - coolant was slushy. They don’t build em like they used to.

Nice to hear people fishing. I was thinking about it but too much to do around the house so decided to get those things done first and then fish when the weather gets a bit warmer. Car was for sure a bit sluggish and the latch of both back doors were frozen in place so it was not possible to open up the back doors (I'm guessing some moisture got in). I tell my friends we don't lock our car doors up here....because the cold will do it for us

I have been up to Minden area but only really fished Gull and some other lakes. Was hoping to hit up Boshkung, TML, or Mountain Lake.

Access is few and far between. Is the best access for Boshkung at the boat launch?

Anyone know if operators in the region allow for paid parking if you are hoping to fish with your own gear and footpower?
