Spent Monday and Tuesday fishing the hardwater. Was also supposed to fish Wednesday. In the rush to get away Wednesday morning forgot my phone at the cottage and remembered as we were loading the snowmobiles at the end of the driveway. From there it is just over a mile ride down the driveway back. Hopped on the machine in a rush and didn't bother to put my helmet on. Took a turn too fast and slid off the driveway and hit a tree doing about 25 or 30 miles an hour. I went over the windshield and cracked my head and then my body off the tree trunk. Skinned and cut my scalp, big goose egg on my noggin (like 3 inches in diameter). Bruised my ribs and left knee and somehow put a 4 inch gash in my right buttock.

Don't feel like writing a trip report on this one but the 2 days we fished were good. One single pic of Tuesday's haul:

Man, you have some history with that sled!
Hopefully the fact that you can post on the next day means you are feeling better and will get well soon.

Buddy.., 3 times in 3 years. Time to look in mirror! Take care of yourself. You have family that likes to fish and enjoy your time together. Stretch it out as long as you can .

I don't know Species past what I see on this board or maybe I'd see it differently.
And this won't be a nice thing to say, but at this point I wonder if it even matters to him?

Sometimes mishaps happen to people who are good at what they do and comfortable doing them. They become complacent. They say it happens with helicopter pilots past 10,000 hrs.
But those mishaps or "close calls" are usually wake-up moments.

I don't know if all self procliamed "adrenaline junkie"'s have wake-up moments. Or of they just keep dong what they're doing until they can't. Loved ones and quality of life be damned.
Wounds heal. But body beatings catch up with you later in life.

Not to mention the financial cost. That doesn't exactly look like a beater sled that got acquainted with the tree. If it's salvageable, it won't be cheap.

Andy Stumpf set a world record by jumping from 36,000ft and gliding for 18 miles in a "suirrel suit".
He doesn't jump anymore. But not because he can't. Says "Most of the friends I made doing that are dead".
