Hey everyone, I've noticed that the annual subscription for the Navionics app has become quite steep. I primarily use it for ice fishing just a few months a year, and I'm hesitant to spend $80 unless I have to. Would be nice to hear if anyone has found a more affordable alternative app and how it stacks up against Navionics. Your recommendations could really help!

I’ve been using TZ iBoat for the last year….i like the interface, looks nice, I think $25.00 per year. It has various versions covering different parts of Ontario where navionics covered everywhere….but I just wanted something I could mark my waypoints, navigate back, and not cost a fortune…I noticed on some of the kawartha lakes it did show a couple shoals that did not show on navionics …not sure if that was because my navionics was not updated but it was a small spot on spot type of shoal so that was cool.

Interesting, I didn't get it last because of the $89.00 charge. I did purchase the Canadian/American App this year for $39.00 Remember, you only want the upgrade and that's what I applied for and the cost was as stated. I was out last Tuesday using the App and it worked just fine.

I get it that they keep upping the subscription costs. I didn't renew as, the way I figure it, rocks, humps and shoals don't move. I think I'll manage....lol.

That will suit me just fine! Thanks for the info! $39 seems way more reasonable. I think I'll check out that Canadian/American upgrade app. Sounds good to me! ?

No idea this was a thing... I think mine is on auto-renewal. So I can change it to the cheaper $39 option? And you're getting the same feartures?

Fully agree. I have kept using Navionics for quite a number of years just fine without upgrade (though each time I opened the APP it asked me to upgrade). I also figured those lakes don't move anywhere anytime soon:-)
