I’m a new guy when it comes to shore fishing in Toronto, anyone know if you’re able to fish the mouth of the don river or keating channel (connect to lake O) from shore easily?

My girlfriend just moved downtown Toronto not far off from the mouth, looks like fish would run it but I haven’t had the chance to go down to scope it out if it’s actually accessible, nor do I know if you’re even allowed to shore fish there. Anyone ever tried it??

If not there though where might be a better river to head for?

Thanks in advance!!

IDK if you can fish the area but salmon do run the Don.

Try the humber or credit river mouths. Lots of easy access there.

I think the old Don would have been difficult, but with the new routing and park maybe is it is accessible now.

The Don is certainly accessible upstream, lots of trails along the shores of the river.

There used to be huge carp frequenting the mouth of the Humber and Don years ago - I'm guessing they would still be around.

IF you're into that kind of fishing, I'm sure it would be a blast to connect with one of those guys.

I've seen guys fishing for salmon as far up as the Old Cummer Bridge.

Also now that the river no longer flows thru the Keating channel I think you may have some luck at the new mouth of the Don.

Check the regs for any restrictions. The mouth of the Don is part of the Zone 20 where as the Don itself is part of Zone 16.

Oh and if you really want to have some fun fish Centre Island. Pike, Bass and Salmon this time of year.

Definitely gonna try the new mouth this year, didn't realize they opened the park there last year

For salmon at the island would you be looking at fishing the eastern channel? It seems to be the best access to deeper water
