Mouth of the Notty Fishing, Ice seems to be gone

It looks like the ice at the mouth of the Notty has flushed out, is it too early to go up and fish it? I'm about 2 hours away so it's a bit daunting for me to head up to try especially when I've never know anyone to fish it this early. I've seen people talk online about fishing 'ice out' but I've never tried myself and most of my trout / salmon fishing has been trolling from my boat summer & fall, so if I was to go up and fish I'd be throwing spoons / spinners from shore, is that even a decent strategy for this time of year? or should I just be patient until I can get my boat out

(The ice may not actually be fully gone but from what I can tell from the small video camera my family has pointed at the river, the big ice sheet got flushed & crushed on shore and there's open water there now with smaller ice chunks moving along pretty slow)

This time of year with the Spring runoff, the water can be high, fast, dirty and basically unfishable. That is my experience from a few years back.

Back in the day when Nirvana and Alice in Chains were rocking the charts (LOL early 90s), I would always make several trips to fish the Bay. Often their would be enough ice pushed out to troll the mouth of the river and out into the Bay a little.

We used our little tinny and would troll spoons. Always seemed to have good luck right around the edge of the ice. However, back then you could also catch splake, which often filled the void if the rainbows weren't cooperative.

It's been 30 years since I've been out there, but I would suspect the rainbows still stage at the mouth. I always found they tend to shoot up quick once in the river. We would still catch some, but always did better in the bay.
