Recently I've been gaining a ton of confidence in one of the simplest baits in fishing: the bucktail jig.
In this video, I break down how I'm using bucktail jigs to target suspended walleye and why they've quickly become one of my favorite tools for triggering reaction bites. The heavy weight allows the bait to fall quickly through the water column, making it easy to stay on fish and fish aggressively. That fast drop, combined with sharp upward snaps and sudden direction changes, often triggers strikes from fish that otherwise seem completely uninterested.
I'll cover when I use a bucktail jig, how I work it around suspended fish, why the fast fall rate is so important, and the situations where it can outperform other presentations.
If you've struggled to get suspended walleye to commit, this simple lure might be exactly what you're missing.
