I'll be heading up that way this weekend for a family thing. we have rented cottages on a lake up there. I will bring a rod just in case I get any free time to cast from a dock or shore. Probably early morning or late evening when grand kids are being put to bed. Have never been in this area before other than driving through

Family gatherings always have great food.

Great report as always and well done on the eats

I couldn't agree more about the speed for walleye fishing.......go slow and slow down more lol

I just got my first trip in this past Monday and speed was critical along with a couple of other things

AS you state, this site is great because of information freely shared

Thanks Shank. Saw your post on trolling speed. Slowly but surely, catches the walleye.

Used these two lures on two rods all night, one shallow, one deeper. I would cast 10 times with each switching back depending on how many fish were hitting each lure. There was a bit of current, so as usual a very, very slow retrieve. Moving water enhances the action of a lure, retrieving against the current. Many anglers retrieve a lure too quickly in moving water when fishing for walleye. Trolling is another example of fishing too fast for walleye. If you feel too much vibration on the lure, you are probably fishing too fast. When the water is chilly in the spring and fall, there is no such thing as too slow, when fishing for walleye in the Kawartha Lakes. My lucky lure is still going strong, even if it looks bad. If it ever gets lost, I will have to retire from fishing.

Yes I find to troll walleye you must go one mph or less.....they like a slow feed.

Arnie

For a fish that prefers a slow bait, they sure hit hard when they're hungry.
