Windy Walleye., 3rd trip up to the lake.

Drove up to the lake. Started fishing in the wind around 7pm Wednesday night. A bit windy for the boat direction wise, so fished from my friends dock. A few perch or small bass hitting on my lure or jig, but nothing slamming it. Slowed down the retrieve to turtle speed and started catching bluegill at dark. Lots of these.

Not as big as last time, but lots and lots of bluegill.

Walleye showed up later, around midnight. Wind slowed quite a bit and got colder down to 4 degrees. A few smaller 15 inch to 20 inch walleye and more bluegill. One rockbass and this big walleye. Gave up around 3.30am. Had to mow the lawn at the old homestead, so needed some sleep...big lawn.

When I got in my car this is what the air temperature was...supposedly. Looks like a new sensor is required. Not happy about this, only had the new car 14 months. This sensor triggers warnings etc. Technology is good when it works properly. When it doesn't, it can affect other systems in any automobile. When many of us were kids, cars and trucks had an engine, four wheels and a steering wheel. Now our cars can almost drive themselves. I like my new car, but like the old days and older cars better. Drive safe...Fish safe.

Usually fish shallow under the surface, didn't work this time. Used these two baits all night, went down to where the fish were. The walleye were glued to weed bed bottom. For what little weed there is right now in 8 to 10 FOW. Very, very slow retrieve, water is still chilly. If you are not catching walleye and crappie, you are still fishing tooooo fast.

Patience is not my friend. You started fishing at 7, but he Walleye showed up at midnight?
Don't think I'd have lasted that long without a Walleye 'sniff', which is my problem in a nutshell...lol.
Nice to see patience pay off for you. Fish for breakfast is a great option.

Thanks Fozzy, as long as it takes is sometimes the way it goes. In the boat we can move around and cast until we find them, in the usual places. Fishing from shore I am limited depending on the area. The question is not...Will the fish be there tonight? The question is...What time will the fish show up tonight? If I knew the answer, it would spoil my evening.

Oh yes definitely, reliability is highest on the list. Had very good luck with all my cars/suv/trucks/motorcycles. Taking it to the dealer, where they can replace the sensor.

Is that your order, just ten? Ship them to you same night express. They were all too small anyway. Surprised that I am catching so many this spring. It's a wide gap hook on a quarter ounce jig head. Usually I just can pull the jig away when a bluegill hits the bait. But lately they have been very aggressive. Even caught a few on the black and silver crankbait.

I was hoping to break the new boat in this weekend, but not with this forecast! Tomorrow afternoon was looking possible but the forecast is moving the rain to last longer and longer…
