Another beautiful day on Owen Sound, Limited out on Lakers and a bonus Chinny

Thx everyone and yes it was a great day for fish and weather. We did run deep for the Lakers.

I have been in Waubaushene three weekends in a row at the trailer but have been super busy on land getting stuff cleaned up. This past weekend I knocked down 31 dead Ash trees.....victims of the Asian Borer. Well I have lots of firewood now. I haven't even gotten the boat in the water in Waub. Hopefully this coming weekend.

it was very sad to see the devastation from the Emerald Ash borer's. They came up on lake Huron from Goderich, to Kincardine , and through our park in Port Elgin a few years ago. Had to take down 10 ash tree's on my lot alone and likely over a 1000 in our park. It does make for good fire wood though.

They actually came to North America into Louisiana and then up through the states into Michigan then jumped the border into Ontario....as a arborist I have cut down countless ash trees in the last 15 years........sad indeed.

Looks like a fantastic day out on the water! I'm guessing that the lakers were stocked fish? (I couldn't tell for sure from the pics.) GBay lakers always taste good.

Definitely sad to see the borers in the ash trees. I've unfortunately seen whole stands decimated. On the plus side though - it has made some amazing habitat and food source for the various woodpecker type species in the area. Last year we must have had a bit of a micro-burst through the one stand. Trees were down all over the place - nearly impossible to walk through. However, the undergrowth that came up was amazing. Great cover for those transitional species like woodcock and grouse etc.

Yes I have related and downy woodpeckers there.

Nica catch I'm jealous! Its a hour drive to Georgian bay for me and im always nervous that it will be to rought for my 16' aluminum boat. Riggers and dipsey divers i take it ?
