Near Record Fallfish, Biggest Minnow Award

World Record Trout Group: Members Posts: 1439 Member No.: 13075 Joined: January 11, 2017	Had my annual trip to Quebec this past week. Fish numbers down significantly from previous years. Lots of nice big walleye released. My brother caught his PB 38” Fat Pike on a leech and slip float 6lb line. I managed my PB Fallfish at 18” on the dot, 45.7cm. (Ontario record is 47cm, not sure about Quebec). Look at this brute.

When I was a kid we used to catch monsters like that on the York River below the Baptiste Lake Dam. Lots were over 12 to 40 inches. Some of there pyramidal stone pile nests in the rapids would be almost four feet wide at the base and up to three feet high. It amazed me how big the rocks were in the piles, knowing that the male fish carried these in their mouth. Ontario Hydron now has it all posted and you can't fish there now.

You were so close to the record, not too many people can say that. Nice pike and report, thanks for posting the picture. Very cool.

I think you meant to type 12cm to 40cm.

Parr Trout Group: Members Posts: 93 Member No.: 20643 Joined: May 27, 2024	Oops! Should read 12-14 inches. Largest one I’ve personally seen was about 16 inches, electrofished on the Indian River up by the Warsaw Caves. Seen some whoppers in the Crow River by Marmora, but never an18 incher!
