Many of you know i wrote off my snowmobile last winter when i hit a tree doing about 35-40 miles per hour. Went and had a look at the tree that i hit last weekend. This is what i saw:

Attached Image

Bottom tree wound is from the snowmobile impact which twisted the steel frame and destroyed the right front suspension and ultimately made the machine a write off. Top wound is from my head - no helmet.

Close up of head impact site:

Somehow only a minor concussion - was on light duty for 5 days - should have killed me. Did split my scalp and gave me a tennis ball sized goose egg. Always been an adrenaline junkie but after 62 years of pushing the envelope hopefully i have finally learned something. That is my 12th or 13th concussion and hopefully my last.

When we were children, we would usually go to our mom for a bandage. She fixes the problem and it goes away. Then she would give us some guidance, until the next time something happened. When we were teenagers, we thought we knew it all. Put the bandage on ourselves, and took no guidance from anyone. As adults the wounds take longer to heal. We must now ask ourselves...What could go wrong? We don't have to give up what we love doing at our age. Just remind ourselves that we don't bounce back so quick anymore. Nothing wrong with being a little cautious, and remembering we have limits. Though I do admit, the crazy stories of our adventures are fun to tell. LOL.
