We left Friday afternoon and had camp set up in time for a quick evening fish.
Saturday, we had to stay close to camp because storms kept rolling through. The tent got a pretty good test during the worst of the downpours, lasted over an hour with some close lightning strikes mixed in. One hit the next island over. BOOM!
We hunkered down in the tent (puff puff), and near the end it was sitting in a few inches of water, but it stayed dry. upgraded that a few years ago and it paid off.
We also brought our new cots, and I got a much better sleep than I ever do on an air mattress, why I didn't try them sooner I do not understand.
This trip wasn't about fishing as I'm used to (the wife made that very clear), so it was a little different and more relaxed. I even passed on Saturday evening and just had a fire and played with the dogs.
I also brought along a little hand-crank radio I've had for about 10 years and never actually used. After dark, we could pick up 1150 from Hamilton, which is over 700 km away. No cell signal, and honestly, one radio station is fine by me.
Fishing wasn't on fire. 36 in total, mostly smallish walleye, and nothing picture-worthy, but I threw one in anyway.
The only reason I have scenic pictures is because of who was with me
