We had a couple of hours before going to the in-laws for dinner so we headed down to the creek to pass the time and try to catch a rainbow. As soon as we walked down to the creek, there was a guy across on the other shore, and guess what, he had a fish on. This is a good sign. Watched him fight it for a bit and knew it was a big one from how long it took to get in. I would guess about 8 lbs and released back to the water. I like to see the big ones go back. We scouted out the area and where I wanted to go, was quite slick and didn't want to fall in the water so I tried where Jerry caught his friend the Brown. I think it was my 2nd drift, bobber goes down and I figured I was snagged but this snag was tugging back. FISH ON!! So I yelled "Glenn, I've got one!!" He looked up just in time to see the fish jump about a foot in the air. I must have hooked him good because it was still on and had a little battle and then beached it. I would guess a 3lb rainbow. I was hoping to release the first fish I caught but most of the fish I have seen caught have been in the 6-8lb range and didn't know when I would get another nice eater so we kept it. After cleaning it, I determined that it was a male. This will be our Christmas dinner tomorrow night since it is just my parents and us eating as our big party is on Boxing day. I think we were there about 10 minutes and I had caught the fish and I've been smiling ever since. We stayed for another 45 minutes and then headed back to filet the fish before leaving for the in-laws. While we were there, we saw another 2 fish caught but both got off. We are going to head out again tomorrow morning for a bit to try our luck again.

Thanks guys. Glad to get that first one on shore.
We tried again today from 8:30-11 but no nibbles or fish caught. Glenn had one surface close to his bobber but no hookup. That was the only indication that there were fish there. I was surprised to see so many people out this morning but not as many as there are on the weekends. Probably 10 cars under the bridge and 3 along the street. Lots of golfers out this morning as well. That will be it for me until later in the week.
Merry Christmas to all and here's hoping for safe ice soon.

I'm sure that's not what you tell your clients shank.
Thanks again guys, now that I have caught one, I'm ready for ice fishing but am sure we will be heading to the creek a few more times before we get safe ice.
