Hi Longshank (and anyone else who may know),
Yes, today (Sunday Dec 30), family want to go to the Niagara Falls area for a night (Sunday night). Booked hotel room at Radisson on Fallsview Blvd, Niagara Falls. Will head out in about two hours from now.
Now I am wondering there must be some rivers nearby where I could cast a line or two for some trout fishing, or no? Do you or anyone know?

Hey X
The Niagara river has some nice pools for trout. Whirlpool and devils to name a couple. Quite a walk down and scary when icy I am told but tons of fish.

Let us know how you do. Good luck.

Thanks DR. I will see if I can make out and do some fishing tomorrow morning when family members say are still sleeping at hotel room...;-)

The easiest and safest route is to go the the Queenston boat launch and fish from shore. It is the only boat launch on the Canadian side and is about 15 minutes from the falls. It may be busy but is safer than traveling down the stairs. If you travel further north towards Niagara-on-the-lake there may be some spots there as well.

James, yes, I second that, if you go out try Queenston. The stairs at the whirlpool can be very icy and dangerous this time of year (I never went, but have been told). Also, I'm not too sure of float fishing options in that area thou. You may need to bottom bounce. If you are going to bottom bounce you'll need 1-2 oz weights and 3 way swivels as well as corkies (floats). Keep the braid on you were using.

Thank everyone (Jerry, Nicole, etc) again. I will bring ALL of my fishing gears (for float fishing, for spinning, for ice fishing, ...) with me, just in case!;-) Tomorrow morning when everyone else from the family are in sound sleep at hotel room, I will be sneaking out for sure...;-)

Jerry is bang on! Float fishing at the whirlpool, three way bouncer at Queenston. 1 ounce weight is good. Also if you don't have corkies, make sure you have floating roe bags. Cast out at 10 o'clock drift till 2 o'clock retreve, repeat. Lol As Nicole said can be busy, but most people there are good and will give you some space. Good luck! Cheers!

Yes that is the one Room 202
Cool. I don't know what your or our "schedule" is like. I mean you must have your family with you, and I have mine with me, but say if later or late in the evening you are free (and I am free, too) I could meet you for a drink (or two:-)
