Fished from 8:00AM this morning for close to 2 hours, and caught zero fish. Tried with salmon roe/eggs which Jerry gave me earlier this week, and also tried with salted minnow. Water flew too fast, and even with some very heavy weight, the line just couldn't stay put, but just kept flowing fast....
And saw two other guys fishing there who didn't catch no fish, either;-)

Great pics James as usual.. I know trout fishing can be frustrating, but keep trying -- once you get your first fish, you will never look back. Bottom bouncing is a little difficult to learn, you have to adjust your weight, cast, rod and line to just have the weight tick the bottom. Even after many hours spent doing it, I still have trouble getting it right.. But I have caught a few fishing doing it.. Happy New Year!
Cheers, Jerry
BTW: That roe I gave you is - brown trout roe, not salmon... Only the best for my good buddies..

Nice pics James, I envy you. What a great looking morning and only two others there is pretty rare. The current often changes speeds there and you have to constantly adjust your weight to get the proper "Niagara Tick" it took me quite a while to get it but I think I have it now. I am going to try Longshanks method with the heavier line, leader, and drop line as I have already lost oodles of streamers and weights learning the water. One other thing I was told and witnessed is that you need to cast out as for as you can to catch the edge of the shelf. Also you get less snags out there I am curious if Longshank agrees. Kevin, one of the locals told me that as I watched him prove it by brining in several fish one day when others were getting none. Hope you enjoyed your morning, Happy New Year!

Around noon yesterday and after checking out from hotel and on the way to the tourist area at Niagara-on-the-Lake, I stopped by the same spot again, and saw 4 guys were fishing there, but again, nobody caught nothin' at all:-)
