Hey!
I have lived in Cambridge all my life. I have fished Puslinch for many, many years. Today we went for our first hard water adventure of the season. After last years total ban on parking around all possible access points. We had to get in touch with an old friend who lives on the lake. He allowed us to park on his lot and walk on to the lake from there. For anyone without a friend on the lake you can access it by simply parking on the road by the smaller lake (little lake). Its an extra 5 minutes of walking from where we all were able to park a few years back. The surrounding land owners ( the Mclintocks) have gone to an incredible length to stop people from accessing this public lake. They are trying very hard to make it private. They are not too popular with the fishing crowd or the GRCA for that matter
So now for the fishing! The day started off with us drilling holes until we found a nice sloping 6-14ft deep area near the center back portion of the lake. 14ft of water is ideal on this lake for the main species Pike, Perch and Walleye. The lakes deepest point is 21ft deep but heavily over fished. If you can find a nice 10-15ft spot somewhere else stick to that and you will catch more than the lemmings.
Within an hour of setting up 3 out of the 4 of us had caught a nice perch each. Tom on the other hand managed to nab a nice 22" pike. As the day went on the fishing was great we had by noon managed to bring in 6 perch and the 1 pike. Later on around 1pm we were into 3 more perch and a nice 20" pike. Then we had to call it a day. We finished the day with 9 perch (1 jumbo keeper which was a nice surprise) and 2 pike. The fish were on the small size and we didn't land any walleye but a great day was had by all. Rods out fished the tip ups 10 - 1.
Ill always go back and fish this lake once to start my season every year. As of last year I saw my buddy bring in a 5.5lb walleye and put it back, that's enough too keep any man going back
The ice is good over the entire lake with about 4-8" of nice ice.

Thank-you for the well written fishing report. I have never fished Puslinch Lake, but have read about it.. That's really sad to hear about the restricted parking and access. I hear about this stuff more and more every year.
I'm glad you figured out the picture posting. Nice pike and very happy you had a good day out there... Cheers, Jerry

Hey Hooker nice post. I have fished there a few times (I'm in Hamilton). And you can't really blame the locals for the parking ban. The local fishing community did make a mess for them to clean up. And I did see a few times guys knock over fences and make a mess with vehicles. It's good you have a buddy on the lake! It's a nice lake to fish for pike. Cheers!

Actually I'm pretty sure the parking ban has to do with a group radar racing high performance sleds on the lake. Ice fishermen just got screwed in the process.

There is a massive population of large mouth bass, 4lbs are a regular site in the shallows off weed beds.
The boat launch has no parking signs in the winter and you will be towed if you park in that area.
I agree the fishermen in the area did leave garbage behind. But there are a ton of good guys out there fishing it and they usually carry garbage bags with them and do a clean up of there area when done, like me
