Here's another tale of the sort of stuff that goes on. When my son bought his current home about 15 - 20 years ago it had an oil furnace and a pair of wood stoves as back up. He could not get insurance from anyone until he physically removed the wood stoves, probably not that bad an idea since they were old and not certified. The oil tank was in the basement. A few years ago they made him move the oil tank outside or no insurance. At the same time he installed a new high efficiency oil furnace. Now the insurance boys tell him he has to convert to natural gas! When he investigated that the gas company said sure and gave him a reasonably attractive quote. The kicker now is that the town won't approve the connection because it means tearing up the road which they just repaved last year. Anybody want to buy a house?
What town is he in? must be Georgina. I work for a municipality in the engineering divison and have never heard of such BS!! Most utility installers direction drill services now,so minimal disturbance. The gas main should be in the boulevard anyways. I would threaten them with a lawsuit.

No, it's not Georgina, there are other places just as messed up. My son is currently having some serious discussions on two fronts. He doesn't give in easy. As a retired engineer myself, I agree, it's all BS.

Ya, but do they have a $9,000,000 ski hill that looses a half a mil each year

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I contacted a broker and turned him loose to get quotes. In total, all taxes in, doing it the way Allstate wanted, just short of $2000 for both the van, snowmobile and trail permit ( that I would not be using). The new company for both the van and snowmobile, with the same coverage...$1088. NO KIDDING!!!! I just saved almost $1000. That's friggin crazy, especially when I have been driving 40 years with NO at fault accidents, am a non-drinker and only one minor speeding ticket (15 over), years ago. Now I am glad Allstate tried to screw me. I just figured out how I am going to pay for my trip to Spain!!!
