I just tried to renew my snowmobile insurance on my auto policy. No big deal, just a renewal, same as last year, same machine for 20+years. Allstate will NOT renew my snowmobile insurance unless I buy a TRAIL PASS. I tried to tell them that I do not ride the trails, just Lake Simcoe, but no dice. They class my 1991 Arctic Cat long tracker as a "sport-trail machine". No Trail Pass, no insurance. I think it is time to find a new insurance company for EVERYTHING!

Sorry about that Randy! And it sounds about right. I mean it's time to switch insurance company when your current insurance company does not necessarily deserve no business no more from you;-)

Insurance companies think they have all the power. And our government are letting them. Why is it they make enormus amouts of profit and then tell us they need more. I am one who would love a good fight.

Rainbow, this is the BIGGEST BS I EVER HEARD of!!
I have a Yamaha Venture Touring Snowmobile, it’s a long track touring, designed and built for long run on trails. It is a really trail rider. And my insurance company NEVER told me such a BS what they told you.
It’s time for a changing your insurance company. I was on the snowmobile show, they recommended TD INSURANCE is friendly with snowmobilers. I have no problem with them.

Here's another tale of the sort of stuff that goes on. When my son bought his current home about 15 - 20 years ago it had an oil furnace and a pair of wood stoves as back up. He could not get insurance from anyone until he physically removed the wood stoves, probably not that bad an idea since they were old and not certified. The oil tank was in the basement. A few years ago they made him move the oil tank outside or no insurance. At the same time he installed a new high efficiency oil furnace. Now the insurance boys tell him he has to convert to natural gas! When he investigated that the gas company said sure and gave him a reasonably attractive quote. The kicker now is that the town won't approve the connection because it means tearing up the road which they just repaved last year. Anybody want to buy a house?
