Got back from Smitty's yesterday. Had a great time. Dave was awesome. He checked on us all the time and made a couple bait/beer runs for us. The only was the heat in the new hut we had. But it was the first weekend for it and he warned us that there might be some kinks to work out. Oh yeah, we caught some some nice walley too. Check out the 2 pics I just posted with the trophies.

We were also with Smittys for the weekend of the 18th when Nikewitham caught those 2 beautiful Walleye. Gotta say our group was envious!! I'm just glad I got to see the 10 pounder in person, and was able to snap a quick photo of it. In our group we had 16 guys split between 3 huts. This year was the best fishing we have ever had with Smittys or on Nipissing in general. between 16 guys we likely landed well over 50 fish, half were wally's with alot in the slot, but some under slot. We landed alot of perch. and they were all a good size. Caught 3 or 4 pike as well, this year marked our 4th year with Smittys (our 3rd with Dave at the helm) he is great, very tentative, very helpful. Did beer and bait runs for us as well. If its your first time to Nipissing, or just want to see what its all about...I suggest calling Smittys, we have never been skunked with them, and have always been comfortable there. We have tried other outfitters in the past, but were never happy, either we never caught a thing (except mud-puppies) or we were dropped off and didn't see our host until it was time to pay and get off the ice. Anyway, I am already planning next years trip, and may even take a second trip up with my girlfriend later this winter assuming there is room!! good luck this winter everyone and be safe!!! cheers

Sorry I forgot to add that we had most of the action between 5:30-8:00 am, and then again from about 3:30 - 5:30 pm. But I also caught 2 walleye at around 12:30 am on the Friday night. We still had a few bites after dark both nights.
We fished outside of the huts Saturday afternoon when the temperature was bearable, and had great luck. So if you feel like stretching your legs, and getting some fresh air, grab the tip up, or you favorite jigging spoon and head out of doors, Dave is more than happy to drill some holes for ya.
