hey there i dont have the mako but my uncle does he baught it same time as i got mine and still going good to, i have the sting ray 8 inch and had it for 3 yrs this season and only had to geta recoil for it once (my fault) pulled to hard and it might need a gas cap this yr but might hold off and just use a plastic garbage bag underneath to keep it sealed for now , doesnt help when you roll your slay at 40 mph and smash the top vent right clean into the gas cap lol , i have drilled over 2500 holes and still on its first set of blades and still has the original spark plug in it , i couldnt say anything bad about eskimo ,even baught a new fat fish portable this season and the room is crazy in it compared to the older models , but go online and look at the reviews it will give you a better idea of what bugs that model has if it has any , hope this helps yea out some

We have the Mako 8" which we bought two years ago. It hasn't seen extensive fishing as we got it late in the first season and only got out 10 times last season. No problems to talk about and still on original blades.

I have the 8" Mako 43cc which I bought at Costco a couple years ago.Runs good cuts well has the point on the bottom which keeps the blade straight in one spot.Big difference I see between it and a Jiffy is the Jiffy tends to cut quicker-faster blade speed.I find this model easy to control as the blade speed is more controllable to the rpm. At least that is my take.
