QUOTE (Hooker @ January 17, 2013 - 12:40 am)
South River Resort, Steve will take great care of you and he knows his shoals which means lots of fish for you!

Nice catch Hooker, a couple of those perch look pretty decent size.

We have been coming up for quite a few years and have just been with Idle Tyme for last two trips. Shawn and crew have been great. Both times we had lots of fish and the service has been great. We have never been in nicer overnight huts with better service. We were up Jan 7, 8 and 9th and it was the best fishing we have had in at least the last five years. We caught lots of walleye just under the slot, along with some smaller ones. We also got a couple of midsize pike, lots of real nice perch, a couple of herring and some late night ling. I would say we caught close to 100 fish and had good feeds every night. We will be booking with him again next year and still hope to get one more trip in this year.
Good luck all and be safe.

Stayed with Glen Echo and South River Resort ---- South River has clean newer bungalows and Steve knows his fishing! We enoyed our stay, caught lots of walleye and perch and the guy next to us pulled out the biggest pike I've seen through the ice ----- 22lbs! the pic is on their website.

I had done Sunset cove for about 10 years - made a bit of money with the biggest fish quite a few of them (within our 10+ person group). The fishing was always half decent - the island location is good - morning and late afternoon - very dead in between.
Stayed the past year at Glen Echo on the ice - hit and miss throughout the day and evening for fishing but great for service.
Staying off ice at glen echo in a couple weeks - looking forward to the time 7+ group.

Idle Tyme or Bear Creek both owned by Shawn and Terra. Great outfitters. Always caught a lot of fish never an off year. Not a single complaint.

For us it's been

South Shore Ice Condos for on ice bungalows and

Sandy Bay for cottage/day hut fishing.

Since there have never been any issues with either, see no reason to change

This is the key. Once you got a good one you like, go with it. Everyone has their favourite. Lot of good people up there. For me Anglers Haven in the winter. Promised Land in the summer. Great people. Great times.

So true......I have been with quite a few up there, but just found a natural fit/whatever you want to call it, so we keep going back.

It's been primarily on ice bungalows for us for lat 10 years or so and it's all about service anc comfort levels etc.

As for the fishing I think that is up to the individuals as long as the operators are on shoals or just off shoals holding fish.

Been going to sunset and fishing was ok. Now though we hit the waltonian cause the cottages are nicer. We don't use their day huts...we go find the fish instead and use our own portables.
