Hey Terb, I used a Little Cleo...Half Chartreuse/Half Chrome last year just to try something bigger to discourage the dinks and it really did work very well. Caught plenty on it and the best of the day...at least that day. Will certainly go back to it again this year as soon as we get ice. Also, they are a little heavier than many other lures which helps in deeper water. gf

I have a few cleos i use for softwater. Think I'll give them a try next time i'm on simcoe. Goood point on the weight. Makes soerting the small ones a lot easier if you can get to the bottom faster.

WOW, i was just thinking about littles cleos today as well. What a coincidence. My question though, is not for perch, do you think the large salmon chucking cleos would work for lakers and whities? Since they are much much heavier than william wobblers. I would think they would get down to 80 feet no prob in a jiffy.. What do you guys think, anyone been using them ??? thanks a ton robbyc

Are you talking through the ice or softwater? We flatline cleos for lakers in algonquin, but Ive never had any luck with them through the ice. Having said that, I dont have much luck with any spoons.

Love Cleos thru the ice, course I grew up fishing quinte for eyes and that is what we used(still do) blue/silver 2/3oz. the 1/3oz hammers the jumbos both there and on cooks..

Well dagnabbit! I need to try my little cleos through the ice, I have a pile of them, used to pier cast on the shores of Lake Ontario for trout and salmon. I have the old original ones with the girl on the back.. Great tips.. Thanks!

Will, I agree with ya .
Every time for trout opener with the old man he always lands the nicest looking Rainbow on Little Cleo's . Silver/Blue . He never out fishes me .... But he defiantly lands the heavier and nicest looking bow all the time.

I have never jigged with Little Cleo's, but they are a great trolling/casting lure.
I've caught rainbow on them in Georgian Bay--blue/silver as Fishsniffer said. I've used them trolling on Simcoe for Lakers, flat lining at the season opener and then later with downriggers--chartreuse/silver. I use them flat lining for Lakers on Lake Manitou, late April/early May and they work very well there, either plain silver of silver/green.
If we ever get ice on Simcoe this year, I might just try some jigging.

PS, never tried them for perch as I don't fish for those PPPPPP-things. I'm part of the backwoodsmanbob school of thought.

Years ago on the Credit River we used to jig them for winter rainbows thru the ice. Many times you would see the bows rush right up stop and then just swim away. Very exciting!
