WHICH FLASHER?

HI FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS,LOOKING TO BUY A FLASHER/SONAR WHICH UNIT DO YOU GUYS.GALS LIKE BEST AND WHICH SHOULD I AVOID ? YOUR IMPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED,THANK YOU.

I guess it depends on how deep you are fishing? If you stay shallow then a lower end unit with single 20 degree cone would work, if you you both deep/shallow Id look for a dual beam transducer with narrow beam for the deep water.

Got a Marcum LX-5 for Christmas and have only had it out once, but it sure impressed me with great color and super fine resolution.

Check the buy and sell there is a x67c for sale. Most people who own one like them.

It's a good unit.
The specs are almost as good as my Humminbird Ice 345c.

I actually prefer my humminbird ice 45 over my lowrabce hds-5 for ice fishing. Humminbird has awesome customer service as well.

There are alot of flashers out there. It's all preference and then it comes down to how much you want to spend. I have a Vexilar FL20 DUAL Beam, and it work great. Like I said it's all preference like cars you have Chevy guys, Ford guys, Dodge etc. I would read up on them and then decide. Good luck and be safe on the ice.

My buddy got a marcum LX5... I got a Humminbird ice55... Put it this way... He is jealous! If you are new to ice flashers.. The Humminbirds have auto tune!

In Michigan the Lowrance X67C is being cleared out at Northwoods Wholesale outlet in Pinconning MI For $219.99. Its by far the cheapest price I have found. They had about 20 of them on Sunday. Hope this helps. I have a couple of buddies that like them.

I just bought one online cause I couldn't turn down the price and I already have two finders. LOL

I have the Humminbird ice 55. Love it. Never used electronics on the ice till last year. Neat watching fish suspended at 20', I'm jigging in 45', reel up slowly to 20', WHAM! Fish On!!

I have a vexliar fl18. What I like about it its old tech. and great customer service. The most important thing is that it has a zoom!

one thing to check is the interference cancelling feature of the unit. My buddies unit can't be fished within 30 yards of my FL-18. Yet my unit can be fished in a crowd with no problems. Not saying FL-18 is the best unit it just works for me.

I used my new Ice 55 this past weekend. I do love the auto depth mode and did get it working in 23 FOW. Most of the time I could pick up both my slab grabbed and he small swivel above it. What concerned me is that I had to set the gain between 45 and 48 in order to see my jig move smoothly on the screen without disappearing. I mostly used the zoom as it makes a big difference on the detail. I do like the unit, just curious if its normal to have the gain so high. I thought I read a very low setting is all that is needed on most occasions. Any help you could provide with the set up would be great.

I have the ice 45 and I'm in the same boat I need to have the gain high to be able to see my jig or minnow.
