Hey CatchOfTheDay...
Oven... lay whitefish fillets in glass cooking dish... pour in white wine or cooking sherry... few chunks of butter.... salt and cracked pepper to taste.... sprinkle heavy with chopped green onions.... cover each fillet with fresh grated parmesan cheese.... cover with aluminium foil and bake till done.... then remove foil and broil till the cheese starts to turn brown. Enjoy!

i have never caught whitefish before but regulary buy alaskan whitefish at the grocery store and it is my favorite fish i love it baked. This may be a stupid question but is alsakan whitefish the same basic species as whitefish people catch in canada? i find that they taste almost exactly like Cod which is a saltwater species

I'm not sure if these are the same fish as Ontario whitefish do not taste like Cod imo
so you can buy Ontario whitefish at any grocery store and let us know if same or not.

Lake nip walleye are probably the best eating walleye in ontario, there is somthing about Lake Nip walleye. That being said the perch are just as good, if not better, I have fished perch all over Ontario and Lake Nipissing perch are by far the best eating perch in Ontario, lake Erie is good but Simcoe perch taste like dirt compared to Nipissing perch.
