Well, after getting home yesterday from a trip to Nipissing, I told myself I had to get out one more time before work on Monday. To my surprise, the girlfriend wanted to come, even after the trip to Nipissing. We headed to a small lake north of Peterborough to try our luck.
I have never fished for Lake Trout before and didn't really know where to start. We got on the ice at around 1pm and fished until dark. With no luck in the first hour or so, I went to talk to another guy out there fishing and he was having a great day. He told me to move into a little shallower water and switch to a jig head and minnow, So we do. Bang!!!!! Big hit on my girlfriend's rod and she misses the fish, but things are looking up! Another 20minutes go by, my rod goes off and I pull my first Lake trout from the water. We lost three more this afternoon, one my girlfriend lost looked like a big fish!!

Thank you everyone! I'm hooked, all I want to do is fish for trout through the ice now. I've never caught a Rainbow, Brook trout or splake. I'm going to spend a lot more time on the quiet back lakes chasing these fish.

Racer222, great looking fish. lets hope that it's the first of many
and thanks for sharing that little tid bit about the jig head and minnow. I'm going to switch off the single hook and split shot and give the jig head a try...
