Bought a new set of blades for my manual auger however won't mind finding someone who resharpens them and keep the old set for emergencies.

I have never bothered resharpening. I do it the other way and always carry a new set with me to replace the old set if and when its needed. Make sure you pack the wrench as well.

It's always funny that when someone asks for something you get umpteen opinions on why he shouldn't. Try Rockys in Orillia:
Rocky's Tackle

Thanks for the info next time I'm up that way I'll check him out. Seems such a waste if all it takes is to find someone with a jig to maintain the angle and they're good as new.

they never come out the same. just buy a new pair. not worth the time, money and effort of having them sharpened

On the newer augers the angles are compound and complex. It is not easy to do a good job re-sharpening. On the other hand, there are some cheapy after market replacement blades that aren't even worth what you pay for them. If you buy replacements, be sure to get the real thing, not the made elsewhere imitations.

these are not good knife steel that can take and hold an edge. i put them in my scrap metal bin, not trash. if you wanna burn a bunch of gas and rubber to get a quasi-sharpened blade, go nuts

Figure burn the same amount of gas and rubber buying new and having to reprocess the steele into something new. Them edges a initiallay ground and I'm sure there be a jig to sharpen for those that have the skill. Now please would appreciate only responses to my question thanks all.

You can sharpen them by hand using a good pencil grinder. Keep in mind there are two angles on there. The cutting edge is the primary angle. This is the only one you need to touch up. The second angle is behind that and is just a relief angle. Screw the blade on a piece of wood with the edge overhanging. Clamp that piece of wood down so the blade is parralel to the worksurface. Take a black marker and color the two angles with marker. Go slow and gently with the die grinder and you will see exactly what you are grinding. It takes a bit of practice but good luck.
