I prefer my walleye and perch pan fried but as an alternative. Foil pack on the BBQ with some lemon works well to if your doc doesn't want you to eat fried stuff. Or you can ignore Doc and eat them fried. I suggest the latter.

I was going to ask that question. do most of you pan fry your fish crisp or deep fry? I usually pan fry but was considering deep frying on my next trip up.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions guys! Looks like fish crisp is the winner but we might have to bring a few different flavours. The reason I asked was because I didn't have any fish crisp for our new years day catch so I made up my own. It was about as easy as it gets.

2 cups of saltine crackers crushed up fine, 1 tablespoon (or so) of Clubhouse vegatable seasoning and a tablespoon of parmasean cheese. Mix it up and melt some butter in a baking dish while the oven is preheating. When butter is melted remove baking dish from the oven, dip fish in the butter and then in the mixture then back in the baking dish. I sprinkle some extra mix on top if they don't coat real well. Bake for 30-35 min at 350.

That's it. Both my boys (age 8 and 5) asked for more. That's not surprising from my 8 year old cause he's a walking garbage pail and will eat pretty well anything but it's absolutely unheard of for my 5 year old to ask for more of anything.

Anyway thanks again for all the replies and if your out of crisp, give the above a try sometime, it was very good (easy and only a few dishes to clean too which is a bonus).

I use the regular Fish Crisp together with the Bass Pro "Uncle Bucks" Batter Mix.

I use 1 tablespoon of each , shake up the fillets in a plastic bag and then fry with a mixture of Olive Oil and melted butter.

Does anyone deep fry the fish crisp?

About an inch of oil in a cast iron frying pan works real good for beer batter and all other fish crisps.

The hut belongs to a friend of mine. But my mom is from the Burin Peninsula, a small town called Lawn. I have tons of family down there and go back all the time.

My wife has been making the same complaints as yours. lol
2 of us are leaving Thursday am (very early) and the other 4 (including Skunked Again & fish4ever) will be meeting us Friday am.

And not to get off topic, we will be bringing a bunch of different Fish Crisp and a couple home made recipes too.

Along with the Fish Crisp different flavours we will be bringing and home made recipes, I will be bringing Darryl Cronzy's Breading & Batter Mix. Haven't tried it yet. Let me know if any of you have and if it is any good.
