glad you got out hard to believe people use gps for pppepeeerrrcrccchh. sounds like overkill. They are under the ice in about 22 feet of water. LOL Can hardly wait for ice on the big water

Great pics Nicole, we caught some better fish after you left but we ended up packing up in a downpour. Much harder walk back with no snow and an inch of water. I hope you enjoyed you day. How's the elbow?

I think we packed it in around noon. That might have been our best decision of the day Our walk back wasn't half bad, better footing than in the morning.

On our second set of holes we decided to head over where Casey's had their huts. It was a bit of a struggle to get the huts up in the wind but we all managed. I guess James decided to just open air fish but he seemed happy and looked fairly warm. The rest of us were in huts. I little hard to socialize but we were warmer. Ice here was 8" which was fairly clear with no slush under the ice except from the auger. As soon as we got our hooks down, fish were biting. It was a really lite bite but most fish brought up were small. We were at this spot from 10 - 2 and probably caught about 40 perch as well as 2 herring about 14" each. They were schooled right under the hole and was the most excitement we had in our hut. No one else saw any herring from our group.

We decided to pack it in at 2pm and head back with fshn frk and his friend. By the sounds of it, we picked the right time since it sounded like it was raining when the rest left. It was a wet walk back with most of the snow that was on the ice had melted. When we got back to Casey's we were greeted by another pack of sorts.

We had a great time and looking forward to heading out next weekend. We might hit VB next time as we don't have a transducer and love to sight fish. The only problem is parking but I think with the cold temps expected, we should at least be able to park on the ice then.

nsfisher: It was actually his forearm that he hit on a jagged part of ice when he fell which caused the damage. He is a little sore right now but he will live, nothing broken or fractured thank goodness. Thanks for asking.

When we got off the ice ThorahGuy was there waiting to see how we did. It was nice talking to him and hope I am able to get out on the ice when I am that age. He was going to wait for Jerry and the rest but when we told him they weren't headed back for another hour, he decided to leave.

Great pics as always James You are a sneaky one with the camera. Never even knew you took that many. Hopefully you don't have windburn from being outside and not in a hut and enjoy the fish we gave you.

Yes, Nicole pretty much covered the report. The first spot we stopped at in 20 fow, just a few dink perch and tons of slush. We then moved deeper into 25 fow and found less slush and a fish under the holes. Fishing was steady in the morning, then died down around and picked up again 2-4 pm. Most of the fish we caught were small, but now and again a few keepers were pulled up. The 2-3 pm bite yielded a few nice jumbos. Great day to be out as always, with good company and great fun!
