I put my ice hut on Lake St.John yesterday around 5 pm. I just went to the lake and it was gone. Its a small 4'x6' hut that can fold up. The end walls are plywood and the side walls and roof are green tarp. The hut has the number HU 8535 above the door. The door did have a lock on it. I stained the floor with a brownish deck stain and I have the 3 floor hole covers at home. The interior support boards are secured by staple safety hasps. I checked the shoreline and some of the lake hoping that some kids moved but I couldn't find it. I just build it and used it once. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Not trying to be a jerk or anything BUT, you don't think the wind would have possibly had something to do with its disappearance?

I checked part of the lake. I didn't check the whole lake which I will do asap. My hut weighed about 150lbs and it has bottom heavy. It would have tipped off before sliding anywhere.

That sucks , I hope you find it or some gives it back. It happened to a friend of mine, he had his out on Lake Simcoe in the Le Froy area.

I really doubt anyone would waste their time trying to steal a fold-up hut especially when the wind would pretty much be the biggest obstacle. I've seen 600lb tin sheds with plywood floor go rolling. Couple years back, the big, big huts on Nippissing went for a long slide. Yours is most likely on the windward side, folded up all right.

Every year there seems to be more and more breakins, damage to huts, stuff stolen and entire huts disappearing.....

Don't think this is going to go away.....Good cases for portables..

you would be suprised i have seen huts alot heavier than that take rides if there wasnt alot of snow on that lake ,this wind could have definitely been the culprit, a few years ago during a feb thaw, the snow had melted it was glare ice and a few guys drove out just passed were i was fishing in my hut,, it was very windy that day, i decided it was time to head in ,tied the hut down and started my walk to shore, i heard some yelling looked back out, and saw these guys chasing there car across the lake,, yhe only reason the car stopped was it hit a presure crack and stopped, couple of the tires went in, so to make a long story longer,,, the wind we have had could have moved that hut

gary

Sorry about that.

But per ScotiaB's commercial, I think you should get second opinion!:-) And I second the opinion above, that is, it is very likely the strong wind that stole your hut.

(Hope you will locate your hut somewhere on the lake or by some shoreline)

Check with the cops. Maybe they impounded it for doing 50 over the limit.

There are large trees and hydro lines down. You can most likely assume your hut was tossed like a rag doll across the lake. Check over on the East shore.

Open lakes and fields produce wind speeds much greater than those you read about......
