First Time on Simcoe - Advice?

Here is a post with pictures of the walk out, I was fishing there this past Saturday. I dragged a 100 lb sled the 1.5 km out. It's nothing.... Wait until the whitie and laker grounds freeze up, I will then walk out 4 km... Yippie can't wait...

Yes, agreed the walk out is much easier than the walk back....

I can attest as I was fishing with Admin, his sled is easy 100 lbs. it would have killed me to drag that back. Lol too out of shape. The walk back does seem loooooonger one piece of advice I don't think anyone mentioned is to make sure you buy some ice cleats. They were invaluable on Saturday after the rain washed all the snow away. Without them I would still be walking back from Saturdays fishing or laying in a hospital bed with a fractured skull.

P.S. Jerry, you didn't tell me you were walking out 4 Kms for the whities.

I may or may not know a few spots with less of a walk to the whitie grounds.

But I will admit some of the better spots are farther away from the access points.. Especially as the ice fishing season progresses...

I will also admit the walk is good for you.. I definitely am more in shape at the end of ice fishing season than the start.. LOL

How come some guys say to start shallow and to work out deeper as the day goes on?

Looks like there's some ATV's out there?? I guess I'd be safe Thursday taking the gf out fishing with the sled?? It's been a few years since I've been out on Simcoe in the winter, and she's never even been ice fishing. Heading out off VB as i can easily get there from my house with minor road running. Hoping for the cold to stay around.
