Hey Guys, question, I have a three year old 8 inch Jiffy gas auger, starts up ok, but then runs for a few, and engine dies. Its been acting this way since the last season, any suggestions?

I would start with cleaning the carbs and fresh spark plug.

Try some fresh gas and SeaFoam additive.

When it sounds like its about to quit, hit the primer button repeatedly until it runs strong again.

Good point I have to do that a couple of times with mine. But my jiffy is 31 years old.

Sounds like the carb, do you add fuel stabilizer in the gas before you put it away at the end of the season? It definitely helps if you do.

I would say that the diaphragm is worn out if you have prime it to keep it running kits don't cost all that much.

mine was doing nth same last year and the result was that the fuel line had disintegrated inside the tank

This is a common problem with small engines, the ethanol in our gas is eating all the rubber fuel lines and diaphragm in the carbs the best thing to to is replace fuel lines rebuild carb or good cleaning use super at the pump and a fuel stabilizer. Hope this helps you.

I agree with the ethanol being the cause. Use Star Tron additive to counteract the nasty issues that ethanol causes.

Shell V-Power high test gas is supposed to be ethanol free. Thats the only gas I use in my Harley. I don't have a power auger so I don't know if it is o.k. for that engine.
