Hey All,
I was just wondering what the fishing is generally like on Simcoe in February? (If there is ice)
I will be down near Cookstown/Bradford for a hockey tournament and want to know if it is worth it to try and bring some fishing gear..... Well.... I guess it's always worth it!!!!!!!!! What was I thinking?
Also, where would a good place to fish by car access/walking only?

February is a great time but I will warn you... and listen good...STAY WAY FROM A BIG BEARDED GUY DRIVING AN ARGO!!!!!! First, he will catch all of the fish inspite of the fact that you are standing only 25 feet away from him. Switching holes does NOT help because he will still continue to catch all of the fish while you stand there looking stupid. Second... if by some chance you do snag one by accident, you will suddenly be overcome with the uncontrolable urge to throw your rod and real over your shoulder and pull up the line by hand. I have NO explanation as to why this occurs. Third... while pulling up your fish, you will suddenly find yourself face down on the ice, flopping around like a beached whale...still yanking on the line until the line goes slack. At this point, you crawl to the edge of the hole and stick your arm down into the freezing ice water to drag a 5 pound whitie up onto the ice by the ######. I have no explanation why this compulsion overtakes you but it is irresistable. As you are laying on the ice, you will hear the big guy saying..."Well, I ain't never seen that style before", at which everyone within sight will drop the the ice laughting at you too.
Trust me on this..... I know what I am talking about!!!! Bring your gear. With luck, there will be enough ice to get to the whitie and laker grounds. Let us know when you are coming and see if somebody on this board willl give you a ride out. Just stay away from the guy in the Argo, for the sake of your metal health.
PS. Everytime I am having a bad day, I think about that morning.... bust up laughing..and everything in the world is good again.
