early season, How's the Ice fishing at Barrie Harbour?

hi everyone,

Just wondering how the Ice fishing was at Barrie Harbour this season. Well maybe i should first ask how the ice is first?

I just know it freezes up pretty fast and used to be good early season years ago when i was a kid but haven't seen anyone fishing there in recent years and didn't know whether it was me not catching it at the right time or whether the Perch just don't come in there any more.

I was dowb there before the thaw happendd. Caught tonnes of perch but mostly dinks. I did well in the fall though just before the ice. I caught I swear like 25 perch between 10 and 13 inches. All were released.

I haven't got down there yet this year but last year there was tons of dinks with the odd jumbo mixed in

it looks like the big ones just don't come in there like they used to.
i caught a nice 1.7lbs one there on new years day one year. now we're lucky to have ice in january it seems lol.

can anyone recomend a good perch spot not to far of a walk out (or a good enough shoreline to drive out) thats close to toronto?

Sorry bud but its against the rules to give away hot spots. The more you go the more you will learn about the lake. Good hint for a newbie follow the crowds. They are there for a reason. I'm sure in good time you will find your own hot spots to fish.

lol thanks Ice addict but i don't want GPS pint point destinations. i'm just looking for a town and i'll start from there. tell me Guilford or Lefroy or what ever you know?
and if THAT is still a no then i don't know about these rules of yours man lol

gilford,virginia beach and port bolster are good perch spots.walk is reasonable at those areas.the parking is a different story.
