Well,I got in touch with Mr. Ball and we ventured out on Saturday. Packed his vehicle to the brim with equipment and off we went from our meeting place at the Crappy Trash in Lindsay.
A beautiful day for most of it , light misty rain from about 2 till dusk. We must have put down 25 holes total from 35 feet to 57 and then headed in for the evening walleye around a hump at 17 feet.
Very little marking going on so went back to the deepest hole we had at around 4 and right away there was some activity on bottom.Thought it was a school of whities( my wife's favourite meal ) but was just as happy to pull up a chubby 3 or 3 1/2 pound laker to break the skunk ( a familiar result ).
We tried to entice more action but no takers. We got back to shallower water where something decent took Mr. Ball's minn but by the time I reeled in and passed it off to him for a few turns it was gone. We're thinking 12 pound walleye but we'll never know. LOL
Met a new fishing buddy and there ain't anything wrong with that !!

The dam on crystal lake road would be your best bet.

yes the dam is an official launch and is an easy entry onto the lake ,, you do however have to park on the road as there is no real parking area... be sure to park well down the hil and corner so you dont get hit by traffic

Yes nsfisher, definitely one of the many things this and other boards are good for.
I just figured out that this was my first ice-fishing laker from anywhere as all previous were from down-rigging and jigging in simcoe and dipsy divers in the Rideau Lakes up near Perth.
